GPAQ
analysis using Access
From
this page you can download an Access database that will allow you to
enter GPAQ data and produce detailed reports from your data. This was
designed by Cheshire Informatics Service (CIS) for use by practices
in Cheshire, and they have kindly offered this for free distribution
to other practices via the GPAQ website. They have also developed a
version of the software for PCTs. Please note that you can use the practice
version to enter your data, while the PCT version imports this data
(i.e. you can't enter data via the PCT version).
In
order to use this software you must have Access 2000 or above installed
on your computer. It cannot be used with lower versions of Access.
To
install the Access database, please click on the required link below.
This will download a zipped (compressed) folder which you will need
to save onto your computer and unzip (extract). Programs are normally
stored on the C-drive, but any location on your hard drive is OK.
You
then need to open the folder you have just created, right click on the
file "GPAQSystem.mdb" (practices only) or "GPAQPCTSystem.mdb"
(PCTs only), select Properties and make sure that the Read-only property
is not ticked. If it is, you need to left
click on the tick to remove it. Repeat this process with "GPAQData.mdb"/"GPAQPCTData.mdb".
To
start using the system, double click on GPAQSystem.mdb. Please note
that you do not need to directly use the file GPAQData.mdb, although
you must not delete GPAQData.mdb as this is where any data
you enter is stored. If you have an older version of the
database and would like to update it you should keep your original copy
of GPAQData.mdb (containing your data) and download the folder containing
the newer version of GPAQSystem.mdb. If you save your original copy
of GPAQData.mdb in the same folder with the new version of GPAQSystem.mdb,
you can then use the new system with the data you have already entered.
This
system has been designed for ease of use - you will probably be able
to "guess as you go". However, should you need them, instructions
on using the software can be also found in this folder in the Word file.
Please note that the GPAQ Administrator can
offer some limited advice on using the database, but the creators of
the program (CIS) do not have this capacity.
We
would like to thank Cheshire Informatics Service for freely contributing
this database for other practices and PCTs to use.
If
you use this database, the one thing we ask you to do is to email your
GPAQ data to the GPAQ Administrator (by using
the "Email practice data" function) along with the postcode
of your practice. This is for the purpose of maintaining national benchmarks
for GPAQ scores and being able to relate these to basic practice characteristics
(e.g. urban versus rural). Under no circumstances will NPCRDC publish
identifiable data on practices.

NOTE :- NEW BENCHMARK FIGURES NOT YET ON THE ACCESS DATABASE
