Conditions
for use of GPAQ for practices
GPAQ is copyright of the National Primary Care Research and Development
Centre at Manchester University and Dana Gelb Safran of the New England
Medical Center Hospitals. The copyright can be found at the bottom
of the first page and must be copied on each questionnaire.
GPAQ is free to
use for practices who wish to photocopy or print enough questionnaires
to run their own survey.
If you simply
want to use GPAQ for your own practice, you do not need to contact
us. You will find guidance on how to use GPAQ
and software to help you with the analysis
on this website.
Some practices
may also wish to survey their nurses and a version of GPAQ
for nurses is now available. However, this does not remove the
requirement of the GMS contract to do a survey based on GPs.
If you want to
run your own survey for your practice, but would prefer someone else
to analyse your data and produce a report, you can still use one of
our licenced suppliers. Several
of these companies can also provide you with a complete service including
printing, mailing and receiving the questionnaires on your behalf.
If you are interested in administering GPAQ
via electronic means (for example online or using a touchscreen
in the surgery), please refer to the versions we recommend.
We recommend that
you do not alter GPAQ. Indeed, the incentives in the GMS contract
are linked to using GPAQ in the approved form. In other words, no
questions can be deleted or modified. A lot of development work has
gone into GPAQ and keeping it in its original form will also retain
validity and allow comparisons to be made with benchmark data. You
may add questions to meet the particular needs of your practice if
you wish. However, NPCRDC does not give specific approval to modifications
of GPAQ.
