Testing and validation of GPAQ

Most of the testing of the questionnaires has been done in the previous form of the questionnaire (GPAS). In addition, when we developed the new GPAQ questionnaire from GPAS, we tested it out on patients in English and Scottish practices. This was to make sure that the questionnaire was clear, and that the very small number of new questions were easily understood.

The following publications contain details of the psychometric properties of GPAS. We do not think that these will have changed significantly in the new GPAQ version. We will be checking the psychometric properties of GPAQ as soon as GPs start using it for the new contract.
